RXBAR® protein bar review: Let me start with the fact that these bars pack a powerful protein punch and have lots of fiber, too. They can be a little on the sweet side, but, these bars are one of my favorite snacks when I am out and about. They have a variety of flavors to suit your taste, and one of my top recommendations if you can tolerate eggs and a slightly higher sugar content. For most of the bars, the sweetener is dates. You can get these bars in bulk in boxes of 12, in variety packs, family packs, and various other combinations. They even have bars for kids!
RXBAR® protein bars use egg whites as their protein source and many of their bars contain nuts. They are gluten free, soy free, dairy free, and, for the most part, have no added sugars.
Texture and ingredients
These bars remind me of very chewy taffy or sticky caramel. They are great for a snack but keep your water bottle handy and check your teeth before you go back to work! Some of the flavors seem to be chewier than others, and I will add details in the flavors review.

Mom’s 2 cents
Here’s my mom’s review – RXBAR® bars are some of her favorite snacks, too. She has a laundry list of things she avoids, so having a snack she can grab on the go has made life a lot easier. This was a bit ago, so there are more than 9 flavors now!
RXBAR® bars are my go-to snack. They are portable, high in protein, and contain no GMOs or added sugar. They accommodate my sensitivities to gluten, lactose, corn, and soy and their protein-carb ratio helps me with blood sugar control. And they are tasty! Peanut Butter is my favorite, but the Coconut Chocolate and Mint Chocolate provide a much-needed chocoholic’s fix. And the Apple Cinnamon and Pumpkin Spice add variety. There are 9 flavors in all (so far!), so try them all, and see which is YOUR favorite!
Chocolate Sea Salt
Peanut Butter Chocolate
Pumpkin Spice (Seasonal)
Maple Sea Salt
Chocolate Chip Kids
Berry Blast Kids
Apple Cinnamon Raisin Kids
Chocolate Sea Salt – I LIKE this one. It almost competes with peanut butter chocolate for my favorite. I like the texture, too – it is softer and easier to eat that some of the others.
Peanut Butter Chocolate – This is my favorite. This bar seems to be a little more brownie-like in texture, so not quite as chewy as the others. It tastes good and the texture is better and it covers both essential food groups (peanut butter and chocolate), so what’s not to like. ?
Pumpkin Spice (Seasonal) – This bar is a little heavy tasting sometimes, but I do like it.
Apple Cinnamon – A go-to not-too-sweet general good-tasting bar.
Coffee Chocolate – If you like coffee and chocolate, this is your bar. I enjoy this flavor occasionally.
Coconut Chocolate – Another winning chocolate combination, and one I like sometimes.
Maple Sea Salt – This flavor is not my favorite. My mom hated it at first taste also, but since she had ordered a box of them, she felt like she had to finish them. By the end of the box, she said they were one of her favorites. I *say* I believe her, but haven’t tried this idea myself.
Mint Chocolate – Yet another chocolate winner if you like your mint and chocolate together. This flavor is a stand-by for me.
Peanut Butter – Peanut butter is its own food group, right? I’m a peanut butter fan, grew up on peanut-butter and honey sandwiches, and this bar does not disappoint. It is one of my favorites also.
Mixed Berry – This flavor tastes good but is pretty sweet. I don’t choose it often for that reason.
Blueberry – Just to be completely illogical, this flavor is also pretty sweet. However, it is one of my favorites, so I will choose it fairly often, but I usually only eat half of a bar at a time to keep the sugar down.
Chocolate Chip – For some reason, even though it is chocolate, this flavor is not one of my favorites. Don’t shoot me if it is one of yours!
Chocolate Chip – Kids’ bars are smaller and lower protein, but I tried them just for kicks. Oddly enough, the kids chocolate chip didn’t bother me.
Berry Blast – A sweet tasting bar that your kids will enjoy
Apple Cinnamon Raisin – I liked this flavor as well.
